Our winter mountaineering course takes dedicated winter walkers and turns them into a true Mountaineer. Over the five day course you will cover the skills required to make the transition from winter walker to mountaineer. Learning the practical skills while tackling beautiful summits in the Scottish Highlands.
Winter courses are booked on a private basis at a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio. If you have a second person who would join you, the total price will be split between both of you.
What will you learn:
- Use of ice axe and crampons
- Ice axe arrest
- \Winter navigation
- Avalanche risk assessment and avoidance
- Emergency snow shelters/survival
- Elementary ropework and snow belays
- Terrain – ridges, rocky steps, cornices, steep snow (Grade 1)
- Mountaineering decision making.

Jack is a qualified Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (MCI) and trainee British Mountain Guide. As an avid climber, he wants to share his passion and inspire everyone he guides in the mountains. He thrives to provide a safe, adventurous and educational day for all of his clients.
Who is the course for:
Anyone who has completed our Winter Skills Course. Winter Mountain walkers looking to progress into winter mountaineering. Hill fitness is essential as we will spend 5 big days out in the mountains.
